From Schiphol Airport

By train

Schiphol Train Station is located directly below the airport, at Schiphol Plaza. Trains to Leiden Central Train Station (direction Den Haag or Rotterdam) depart every 15 minutes and take about 20 minutes. It is easiest to buy your ticket at the ticket counter in the arrivals hall, not in the machines. A one-way train ticket costs € 5-10. Time Table

By taxi

A taxi stand is located directly outside the arrival hall at Schiphol Airport. A one-way trip to Leiden costs € 50-60.

From Leiden Central Train Station

From Leiden Central Train Station there are four possibilities to get to the lab (click here for a printable version):

On foot

Leave the train station by exit “LUMC”. Walk along the “Rijnsburgerweg” and then left on the “Wassenaarseweg”. It is a 25-minute walk from the train station to the Huygens Laboratorium.

By bus

Leave the train station by exit “Centrum”. The bus station is located directly to the right of the train station. Take bus 43 (direction Den Haag) or bus 57 (direction Nieuw Vennep), it’s a 7 minutes ride to the building. Tickets can be bought in the bus to the driver. A one-way trip costs € 4. If you plan to make more than 10 bus trips, buying an OV Chip Card at the Ticket & Service desk in the train station will save money.

Bus 43:
Leave the bus at bus stop “Universiteitsterrein”. Enter into the red UFO-shaped building on your right, and ask at the reception how to get into the Huygens building.

Bus 57:
Leave the bus at bus stop “Corpus”. Cross the road and enter to the tall building you have in front of you. There’s a revolving door after you go through the parking lot. Take the elevator to the eight floor or as at the reception to contact us and someone will come to pick you up.

By taxi
Leave the train station by exit “Centrum”. The taxicab stand is located on your left. A one way trip to the Huygens Laboratorium costs € 10-15.

By car
Please note that there is a roadblock to the “Max Planckweg”.
Using GPS Navigation Systems
Go to “Niels Bohrweg 1” or postal code “2333 CA”.

From Amsterdam or Den Haag (highway A44)
Leave the highway at exit 7 “Oegstgeest”. Drive in the direction “Leiden”. Follow the main road for 500 meters until the roundabout, take the first exit into “Rhijngeesterstraatweg”, later on called “Endegeesterstraatweg”. Immediately after a sharp left turn, turn right into the “Niels Bohrweg”.

From Other Directions (highway A4)
Leave the highway at exit 7 “Zoeterwoude Dorp / Leiden”. Drive in the direction “Leiden Voorschoten” on route N206. Follow the N206 in the direction “Leiden-Zuid / Katwijk”, with a right-turn at the Bastion Hotel. After about 3 km, follow the N206 in the direction “Amsterdam / Den Haag”, with a right-turn at the Holliday Inn Hotel. Turn right at the traffic light and turn immediately left; both turns in the direction “Centrum/Naturalis”. Follow the road curving left, turn right on the third street “Sylviusweg”, and at the end turn left onto the “Wassenaarseweg”. After 500 meters, turn left ont the “Niels Bohrweg”.
